HeartMath - Powerful Daily Practice

This is my daily practice which will dramatically improve your health. To understand how and why this works I first need you to understand some of true functions of the heart... they may not be what you think.

The heart is the most powerful organ in the body; electrically 40 to 60 times more powerful than the brain.

Scientists have discovered that the heart possesses its own intrinsic nervous system so functionally sophisticated that it has earned the description of a “heart brain”

This “little brain” gives the heart the ability to independently process information, sense change, make decisions, and even learn and remember information.

The heart is also now considered an endocrine or hormone producing organ. It produces a chemical called oxytocin known as the love or bonding hormone.

What makes the heart even more interesting is that new research has demonstrated that your organs actually electrically synchronize with the heart. This synchronization or coherence is measured and witnessed by EKG, EEG, and Heart Rate Variability studies. When this occurs, your body becomes much healthier, stronger, and more efficient. Measurable improvements include adrenal hormone stability, immune function, decision-making, mental and emotional health, the health of the heart, and human performance.

HeartMath research is showing that shifting your attention to the area of the heart, breathing rhythmically through the heart, recalling a time when you felt (or feel in the moment) a deep sense of appreciation (love, care, joy, gratitude, etc.) causes the heart to shift into a state called coherence.

Here's how to do it:

  1. Shift your attention to the area around your heart

  2. Breathe slowly through the heart five seconds in five seconds out

  3. Recall a time when you felt a deep sence Love, joy, care, appreciation, and gratitude

  4. Focus your attention on that feeling and, in your heart,

  5. Hold this State for 5 to 20 minutes

  6. If you’re focus shifts, gently bring your attention back to the heart

Stay with it. Do this 2-3x a day. It will take many days of practice to begin to notice very positive changes in your life.
